SVP Post-Acute Operations
April Myers is Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Operations. She has operational oversight for all owned CHC ContinueCARE long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs). Prior to joining CHC, April was Market Chief Executive Officer for Kindred Hospitals La Mirada, San Gabriel Valley, and Santa Ana, California. She brings over 20 years of experience to the team.
During her earlier years with Kindred Hospitals, April served as Chief Executive Officer of the La Mirada Hospital; Resource Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Healthcare’s Southern California District; Market Chief Executive Officer for Kindred Hospitals Louisville, Kentucky; and Chief Executive Officer for Kindred Hospital Denver and Brea.
She first began her specialty hospital career with Wichita Falls Rehabilitation Hospital as a Community Educator and Managed Care Specialist before being promoted to Director of Marketing. She worked for Summit Hospital of North Louisiana as Director of Business Development, and later became the Chief Executive Officer/Administrator for their facility in West Monroe, Louisiana.
April has served in Board Member roles for the United Hospital Association and the American Lung Association. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and recently earned her FACHE certification. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana.
VP Clinical Services Post-Acute Services
Sally Parnell serves as VP of Clinical Services for Post-Acute Services for CHC. In this role, she guides clinical excellence for the Long Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACH) and any post-acute care facility managed by CHC.
Sally brings over 30 years of experience in healthcare management and nursing practice to CHC, including CEO/administrator roles at a national level with oversight of operations, financial management, development and clinical quality. She has helped to develop post-acute care services – including skilled nursing, hospice and rehabilitation – implement clinical policies, procedures and training, and facilitate licensure and accreditation survey activities.
Prior to joining CHC, Sally served as Vice President of Clinical Operations for Gentiva Health Services’ Hospice division for six years, and as Vice President of Quality for Select Medical Corporation for two years. As Chief Clinical Officer at SemperCare, Inc. (later sold to Select Medical) she helped to build and operationalize 17 hospitals. Sally has also served as CEO of Compass Hospital of Dallas, CEO/Administrator of American Transitional Hospitals-Dallas/Fort Worth, and as a surveyor for The Joint Commission. She spent her early nursing career in director roles for rehabilitation hospitals.
Sally is a Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP) and earned a Diploma in Nursing from Helene Fuld Nursing School in Trenton, New Jersey. Her Bachelor of Science in Nursing is from Stockton State College, Pomona, New Jersey, and her Master of Science in Nursing Administration is from Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania.
VP Human Resources Post-Acute Services
Nancy Lloyd is Vice President of Human Resources for Post-Acute Services for CHC. In this role, she works closely with the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and the Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Services to provide human resource expertise and services to the CHC ContinueCare division, including support for new business efforts, and human resource leadership and operational assistance for start-up facilities.
With more than 20 years of experience in human resources, she has implemented initiatives that develop the workforce, increase employee satisfaction and improve employer standing. Before joining CHC, Nancy held human resource leadership roles with med fusion of Dallas, ProTom International, Solis Women’s Health, Global Rehab Management and Accuro Healthcare Solutions.
Nancy’s human resource experience with specialty/long-term acute care hospitals draws from her role with SemperCare, Inc., where she led their regional and national human resource and recruitment strategies until the company was acquired by Select Medical Corp. Nancy also served as Director of Employment – Human Resources for the Baylor Health Care System for nine years.
Nancy has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Nebraska and earned a Master of Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University.
Chief Medical Officer Post-Acute Services
David Mendelson serves as Chief Medical Officer for Post-Acute Services. In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the clinical and medical services for CHC’s owned and managed long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs).
As a residency trained, board certified emergency physician, David has been practicing medicine for 25 years. He maintains his emergency medicine practice at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Centennial Hospital in Frisco, Texas.
David has worked in the Dallas area for more than 20 years, most recently as a Medical Director and Vice President for one of the nation’s largest practice management companies.
David is originally from Portland, OR. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology and a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Physiology from the Portland State University. David completed a Doctorate in Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University. His residency in Emergency Medicine was at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia followed by an Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellowship at Emergency Physicians Medical Group in San Francisco.
VP/CFO Post-Acute Services
Michael Murray serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Post- Acute Services. In this role, he leads the financial performance of the owned and managed long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) in the company.
Michael brings more than 25 years of financial management experience to this position. Most recently, he spent more than five years with CHRISTUS Health, where he served as CFO of CHRISTUS Continuing Care, leading a team with responsibility for the financial management of a 15-hospital portfolio of owned and managed LTACHs, along with 18 home health and hospice agencies and one senior living center.
Before joining CHRISTUS, Michael worked with LifeCare Management Services for five years as a Regional Director of Finance with financial responsibility for 27 LTACHs and one skilled nursing facility.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Mississippi College.
Controller Post-Acute Services
Barbara serves as Controller of Post-Acute Services for CHC. In this role, she works closely with the CHC ContinueCARE team on the operation, quality of service and financial performance of the long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) and any post-acute care facility managed by CHC. She brings over 15 years of healthcare management, operations and leadership experience to CHC.
Before joining CHC, Barbara worked as Corporate Controller, specializing in skilled nursing and rehabilitation, for Remarkable Healthcare. Prior to this, she spent over a decade in hospital leadership as a Chief Executive Officer for HealthSouth City View Rehabilitation Hospital, Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital, and Select Specialty Hospital, respectively. Barbara began her career in healthcare as an Accountant for Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas.
Barbara is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Lamar University.
Regional VP Post-Acute Services
Holly Powell is the Regional Vice President of Post-Acute Services at CHC. She guides operational improvement and excellence for CHC ContinueCARE long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs). Prior to joining CHC, she served as CEO for Select Specialty Hospital in Carrollton, Texas where she successfully transitioned the hospital into the new LTACH criteria.
With over 15 years of healthcare experience, Holly began her career with Dubuis Health System as CEO in Paris, TX. Holly then moved into the role of Regional Administrator for Dubuis Health System covering hospitals in the Texas and Louisiana markets. She later served as CEO for Post Acute Medical Corporation in Texarkana, Texas before becoming CEO at Select Specialty Hospital.
Holly has served as a board member of United Way of Greater Texarkana, served on the Leadership Committee for the Paris Independent School District, and she has been an ACHE member since 2009. Holly received her MBA and BBA from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.
Regional VP Post-Acute Services
As Regional Vice President for Post-Acute Services, Keith supports CHC’s ContinueCARE Hospitals in Kentucky and North Carolina and provides operational oversight with a focus on clinical and financial performance. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in all aspects of long-term acute care to the CHC team including expertise in operations, finance and budgeting, team-building, risk management, human resources and referral development.
Before joining CHC, Keith served nine years as the Regional Administrator and CEO for CHRISTUS Continuing Care, where he was responsible for the oversight of 106 long-term acute care beds. Prior to this, he held additional leadership roles with CHRISTUS including Administrator of Advance Care Hospital and System Director of Risk Management. Keith began his career in healthcare as a Physician Recruiter for Snelling Search Medical, where he received the Corporate National Performance Award for Productivity.
Keith is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Master of Business Administration Association, and the National Association of Long Term Hospitals. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Corporate Director of Care Management Post Acute Services
Linda Herbert is Corporate Director of Care Management for Post-Acute Services. In this role she serves as a resource to CHC’s long term acute care hospitals to ensure appropriate and quality care, provide case management strategies, and cultivate ongoing quality assessment and performance improvement activities. She also participates in the selection and professional development of case management staff.
Prior to joining CHC, Linda spent more than five years with Kindred Healthcare where she served as Area Director of Case Management. There she was able to turn around four hospitals in the Denver market within 12 months.
Linda holds a Master of Arts in Bioethics and a Master of Science Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is also a licensed social worker in three states and has an advanced certificate in hospice and palliative care.
Director Revenue Cycle Post-Acute Services
Sandy Pennington is Director of Revenue Cycle for Post-Acute Services for CHC. In this role, she works closely with the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Post-Acute Services in support of quality of service and financial performance of the long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) and any post-acute care facility managed by CHC.
Prior to joining CHC, Sandy spent 16 years at Kindred Healthcare and brings multi-site LTACH experience to the team.
Most recently, Sandy assisted the CFO as the Market Accounting Manager for St. Louis, St Anthony’s and Mercy Kindred Hospitals. During her time with Kindred Healthcare, she also held positions including Controller and Business Office Manager, and assisted the District CFO with two new LTACH startup hospitals by overseeing the setup of the patient accounting systems. With over 40 years of experience in hospital and banking management, Sandy has worked as a Business Office Manager for Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, Kansas; Patient Account Supervisor and Director of Accounting for Craig General Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma; Supervisor of Bookkeeping for Illinois State Bank and Supervisor of Night Transit Depart for First National Bank in St. Louis.
Sandy has held membership in several professional healthcare organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Healthcare Internal Audit Group, Kansas Association of Patent Account Managers, and the Kansas Hospital Association. She attended Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas and studied Healthcare and Management Development at the Zimmerman & Associates Healthcare Receivables Management Institution.
Corporate Director Health Information Management Post-Acute Services
Lakeisha “Keisha” Tolbert is Corporate Director, Health Information Management, Post-Acute Services for CHC. In this role, she assists the HIM departments of CHC’s Long Term Acute Care Hospitals in developing standardized policies/procedures and streamlining processes for this division for medical records to ensure they adhere to state and federal requirements for startup LTACHs.
Keisha brings over 13 years of Health Information Management experience to CHC which includes two startup facility openings. Most recently, she was Health Information Management Director/HIPAA Officer for Methodist McKinney Hospital, McKinney, Texas, where she helped improve workflows and processes and successfully led the EMR Implementation Team. She was also instrumental in implementing ICD-10 testing for facility information system and training of physicians to ensure readiness before the go-live date. Prior, she was Medical Records Administrator/Privacy Officer at The Hospital at Craig Ranch/Surgery Centre at Craig Ranch, also in McKinney, where she established the opening of both the hospital’s Medical Records and Registration/Admissions Departments and she was able to restructure and simplify processes at the existing surgery center for staff and physicians.
Earlier in her career, Keisha served as Medical Coder for Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, and was later promoted to Health Information Management Director/Privacy Officer.
Keisha has a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette, LA, and a Masters of Arts in Management from Dallas Baptist University. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and serves as a member on the Collin County HIM Advisory Board.
Corporate Regional Coding Manager Post-Acute Services
Julie Brown is Corporate Regional Coding Manager for Post-Acute Services for CHC. She works with the Post-Acute Services team and Care Management to provide coding and training for CHC’s Long Term Acute Care Hospitals, and ICD-10 training and implementation.
Julie has been in health information management, billing and coding for several years. She was Director of Health Information Management and Billing at Integrity Transitional Hospital-Denton, Texas, and held coding positions with Cornerstone Hospital Group and UT Southwestern-St. Paul Hospital.
Prior roles include HIM Manager for Regency Hospital of Fort Worth, and in Jackson, MS., LTC/DRG Coordinator at Baptist Medical Center, Director of Medical Records at Willow Creek Retirement Center, Anesthesia Billing and Coding Specialist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Director of Medical Records at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Julie is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). She earned her Bachelors of Science in Health Information Management /Informatics from the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Jackson, an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology from Hinds Community College, Jackson, MS. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Arts and Applied Science in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement from the University of North Texas-Denton.
Billing and Collections Manager Post Acute Services
Maria Milloy is Billing and Collections Manager for Post-Acute Services at CHC. In this role, she directs and coordinates billing and collection functions for CHC’s long term acute care hospitals (LTACHs).
Her responsibilities include improving collection practices, increasing cash flow, and streamlining financial processes through automation, technology, coaching, and mentoring.
Maria brings more than 25 years of hospital Revenue Cycle Director Level Management and Business Office Support experience to CHC. Her career includes a variety of revenue cycle positions with HCA, Triad Hospitals, Inc. and other healthcare organizations.
Most recently, Maria served as a Director of System Revenue Cycle for a large Dallas-based healthcare system. In that role, she oversaw the Central Business Office for their five owned hospitals.
Maria is fluent in Spanish. She is a licensed Life Insurance Agent in the State of Texas. She holds a certificate in project management and is proficient in a wide array of business and medical billing software. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University.
Corporate IT Operations Manager
As the Corporate Information Technology (IT) Operations Manager for CHC, Brian Stopinski supports 1,200 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) users, manages dozens of healthcare services and corporate projects, supervises the CHC Help Desk operations, and is the primary Google expert for all LTACH users. Prior, Brian served as Senior Systems Administrator for CHC.
With over two decades of professional experience, Brian began his career in IT with Halo Branded Solutions. He also served as an IT Infrastructure Administrator for Heritage Interactive Services. In addition, Brian has served as an IT Project Manager and IT Infrastructure Manager for Evigna Brand Insight; an IT Project Manager for Netlink Software Group; and a Systems Field Engineer for Bensussen, Deutsch & Associates.
As part of his specialized training, Brian completed his A+ Certification and has participated in the Willow Creek Association Leadership Summit. He has served on several employee leadership and management teams including Quality of Service Management and International Organization for Standardization Auditor Training. Brian received his Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking Technology from Baker College, Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Corporate Manager Community Relations Post-Acute Services
Verna Walker is the Corporate Manager of Community Relations for Post-Acute Services at CHC. In this role, she oversees community and physician relations efforts, including referral development, across all ContinueCARE Hospitals. Prior to joining CHC, Verna worked in Wound Care Management as a Program Director at Healogics. She brings over 14 years of long-term acute care experience and over 20 years of progressive management skills to the team.
After beginning her healthcare career with LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas, Verna held several leadership positions including serving as the Director of Business Development for Solara Healthcare, Triumph Healthcare and Encore Healthcare, respectively. In addition, Verna spent two years with Kindred Healthcare as the District Director of Sales and Marketing, overseeing five hospitals in three states.
Verna holds an Associate Degree in Business and Finance from the University of Texas–Pan American in Edinburg, Texas.
