Community Hospital Corporation Announces Executive Retirements
PLANO, TX (January 16, 2018) – Wilson Weber, Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer, Community Hospital Corporation, and Cindy Matthews, Executive VP – Consulting, have announced plans to retire in July of 2018 after years of helping community hospitals improve along a path of stability and success.
Upon his retirement planned for July 5, 2018, Weber will have fulfilled 13 years of service with CHC. Matthews has been with CHC since 2007, and plans to retire from the organization on July 2, 2018, after more than 10 years of dedication.
Jim Kendrick, CHC president and CEO shared, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Wilson and Cindy and wish we could work together for many more years, but I understand and support their desires to spend more time with family and I wish them well.”
Organizational Next Steps
Until July 2018, CHC will function as it does today with Weber and Matthews continuing their respective areas of responsibility and current reporting relationships. A search will begin for a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) to replace Weber. Matthews’ responsibilities will be transitioned to her current Planning & Business Development team members. In addition, CHC will initiate a search for a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to contribute financial expertise to support the growth and complexity of the organization.
Kendrick added, "CHC will continue to serve its mission to guide, support and enhance the mission of community hospitals and healthcare providers. We are a servant-minded organization with focus on supporting the future stability and growth of the hospitals we serve, in order to preserve healthcare in local communities."
Wilson Weber was first associated with CHC as the Chief Operating Officer at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont, Texas, where he was instrumental in leading the financing and construction of the building that Baptist Beaumont now occupies. He came to the CHC corporate office in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer and has been responsible for the operational management and oversight of all CHC’s owned, leased and managed facilities. He also has served as the CHC representative on many CHC hospital boards.
Prior to his work at Baptist, Weber held senior executive positions from 1983 to 1999 at health systems including Memorial Hermann, Tenet, Health Trust, AMI and EPIC.
“Being at CHC has been a blessing and the highlight of my career,” said Weber. “My wife Andi and my family have been so supportive of my career over the years, making many sacrifices around my work schedule. I’m very close to my family and it’s time to give back to them. I am looking forward to spending more time with Andi, my girls and my parents.”
Cindy Matthews began employment at CHC in 2007, yet started working on behalf of CHC several years earlier as a consultant, conducting market assessments and medical staff development plans for CHC hospitals. She also created the business plan for CHC Consulting and helped create the first (and current) CHC logo and advertising campaign.
Since joining CHC, she has been responsible for strategy, planning, marketing and business development. She has been instrumental in upholding the CHC culture and sustaining the CHC mission to preserve community hospitals.
Nominated by CHC staff and clients, Matthews was chosen among the “Top 25 Business Women” in Dallas in 2016 by the National Diversity Council. Prior to CHC, Matthews was with Baylor Health Care System in Dallas.
“I have loved every day of my 10 years here at CHC,” said Matthews. “We are all so passionate about our mission and our work really makes a difference. My husband, Tom, and I have been planning for some time to enjoy summers at our home in the mountains of North Carolina and I am retiring to do just that.”
