Community Hospital Corporation Announces Management of Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro

Plano, Texas (Sept. 7, 2017) Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) is pleased to announce its management of Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro, a 44-bed long-term acute care hospital, or LTACH, located in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

An LTACH is a hospital offering a specialized level of care for patients with complex medical conditions.

“A presence in Arkansas is an extension of CHC’s expertise in bringing this valuable healthcare service to fulfill a need in community healthcare,” said April Myers, Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Operations for CHC. As part of its Post-Acute Care division, CHC currently owns 11 LTACHs in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Texas.

Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro will provide comprehensive, skilled medical services to patients from local communities in northeastern Arkansas.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to fulfill the clinical and emotional needs of our communities’ patients and their families, as we guide them through care and the recovery process,” said Kathy Devore, CEO. “Our area acute care hospitals do an outstanding job of providing short-term care. However, our communities have patients who require an extended stay, and access to a specialized medical, surgical and nursing staff, and we’re proud to make this care available.”

Born from an unmet need to provide care to patients who required a level of clinical care—often after stay in an ICU or traditional acute care hospital bed—LTACHs generally possess these characteristics:

  • Multi-disciplined medical approach that may include pulmonary and ventilator support, wound care, radiology, physical, occupational, dietary and respiratory therapy services
  • Interdisciplinary team approach, including patient and family involvement in development of a personalized plan of care
  • 25-day average patient length of stay
  • 24/7 acute care physician coverage
  • Availability of invasive monitoring and medical support devices

Kathy Devore, formerly CEO of ContinueCARE Hospital at Baptist Health Madisonville, Madisonville, Ky., has assumed the role of CEO of Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro, Jonesboro, Ark. Her previous leadership positions include Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) roles at Baptist Health, Madisonville, Ky., and Advanced Care Hospital, Searcy, Ark. Devore is a three-time award winner for Best Nurse in White County. Devore will be joined by incoming CNO Jackie Gordon, RN. Gordon previously served as CNO at a CHC-managed facility—CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Livingston, Livingston, Texas, formerly Memorial Medical Center. Gordon has worked in clinical leadership roles with Kindred Healthcare, Maxim Health Systems and Methodist Health System in Dallas.
