Financially strapped Texas hospital gets new owner

Walker County Hospital Corp., which operates Huntsville (Texas) Memorial Hospital, created a new company with Community Hospital Corp. that will own and operate the financially struggling Huntsville Memorial, according to The Huntsville Item.

The new company, Huntsville Community Hospital, was made under an agreement that took effect Feb. 28. The new entity will control the 123-bed Huntsville Memorial, which serves a population of more than 72,000.

Huntsville Memorial Hospital under new ownership

PLANO, Tex. (KBTX) – Huntsville Memorial Hospital is under new ownership.

In a release sent Friday, Community Hospital Corporation announced a partnership with the Walker County Hospital District to create a new company to oversee the hospital. The newly created company is called Huntsville Community Hospital, Inc. The new ownership takes effect Friday.

Community Hospital Corp. takes on bankrupt Texas hospital

The Walker County Hospital District and Community Hospital Corp. have formed a new entity that will own and operate the bankrupt Huntsville (Texas) Memorial Hospital, the organizations announced Friday.

Huntsville Memorial is a 123-bed not‐for‐profit community hospital that holds a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center designation. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November after a series of failed investments and an inability to secure competitive pricing for supplies and managed-care contracts, executives said in bankruptcy filings.
