North Texas Medical Center Begins Relationship with CHC Consulting, Management Team Announced
Plano, Texas – May 1, 2018 – Today, North Texas Medical Center begins a new relationship as Community Hospital Consulting, the management and consulting arm of Community Hospital Corporation (CHC), assumes operations of the hospital.
With specialization in the management and operation of smaller, community hospitals across the country, CHC Consulting brings in a management team including Joe Thomason, Interim CEO, Rodger Bowen, Interim CFO, and Becky Small, Interim CNO (brief bios follow). Outgoing NTMC CEO Chris Zeringue and CNO Angela Yancey decided to return to UHS/Texoma Medical Center. Yancey will help transition the nursing role over coming weeks.

The new NTMC administrative team will be supported by additional CHC team members with expertise in hospital operations. This dedicated team will be onsite May 2, to begin an operational assessment, a close evaluation of all clinical and operational areas.
Interim CEO Joe Thomason currently serves as SVP Hospital Operations for CHC. He has 30 years of experience in multihospital operations, strategic market and partnership development, physician recruitment/development and performance improvement. Thomason was CEO for Centennial Medical Center in Dallas from 2009 to 2017, and has also provided leadership during critical transitions, including the transition from Tenet Healthcare ownership to the joint venture with Baylor Scott & White Health.
Interim CFO Rodger Bowen is a skilled and experienced healthcare CFO. He has served in corporate CFO support roles for Community Hospital Systems (CHS) for many years. He has improved financial operations for small rural hospital systems, while also developing and implementing new services. Prior to CHS, Bowen had various financial leadership roles in three Columbia/HCA markets.
Interim CNO Becky Small has served as a nursing executive for 25 years with focus on clinical operations, risk management, patient safety, quality improvement, physician relations and customer service satisfaction. She was Director of Perioperative Services for Doctors Hospital-White Rock Lake/Tenet Corporation, COO/CNO for Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital-Arlington, and CNO/VP of Clinical Services for United Surgical Partners International.
NTMC is a 60-bed acute care hospital situated on 52 acres located within the city limits of Gainesville, a community approximately 60 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth and five miles south of the Texas-Oklahoma border.
